Hi, I'm Laura.
I help women and LGBTQ+ individuals find true healing.

On Being a Counselor

I believe in the healing potential of safe and supportive spaces. I serve those who face the pain of isolation - whether you face the unique challenges loving a problem drinker or are worried about the effects of your own drinking.

With compassion and care, I tailor our therapeutic work to the needs of people like you who feel like you are facing the struggling alone. I am passionate about working with women and LGBTQ+ individuals who long for support and inner peace.

Practitioner Background

From my earliest days as an outpatient counselor, I have always appreciated this truth: Your path to recovery is unique to YOU.

My experience has shown me that collaboration and partnership create a solid foundation to help you achieve your personal wellness goals.

I am passionate about people receiving the best healthcare possible. I have worked with survivors of intimate partner violence since 2007 and have helped developed an interdisciplinary committee focused on intimate partner violence and human trafficking at Northwestern Memorial Hospital that provides training and education to staff, develops and implements resources for survivors including support groups, and has worked to open a trauma-informed, comprehensive health clinic for survivors of sex trafficking (ERASE Clinic) that has recently launched.

As an advocate and clinician, I believe that VIP-level treatment is imperative to the treatment of mental health.

I am here to stand beside you in guiding you through one of the most challenging, vulnerable and painful times of your life. My commitment to you is that I will provide ongoing support, availability, and timely responses so that you can feel cared for at a time when it is hard to know who you can trust.

My goal is to help you achieve relief and solutions. As a yoga instructor and clinician, our sessions will integrate an awareness of the mind-body-spirit connection. You may be exhausted from the stress of your significant other's problem drinking, searching for objective advice. You may be worried about your own drinking. Regardless of your struggle, I will offer you a range of approaches to guide you towards achieving your desired outcomes. We will review both the evidence-based recommendations and your inner longings in developing your plan.

You can start on a path of health and wellness today. Call (312) 715-8234, or email [email protected] to schedule your first appointment.

Laura as a Person

As a New York native, I moved to Chicago when I began my graduate school, where I studied clinical social work and substance abuse counseling while completing an additional master's degree in Women's Studies. I have always integrated my love of psychology with a commitment to be of service to others. I currently volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, offer pro-bono clinical services at Northwestern's ERASE Clinic, and and teach trauma-informed yoga classes at the Between Friends Women's Shelter. I treasure the time I spend with loved ones and taking time to travel.
