PRESS RELEASE: CCC Announces New Executive Director

Chicago, Illinois, October 10, 2020 – Chicago Compass Counseling (“CCC”) welcomes Dennis Nguyen as its new executive director. Nguyen succeeds founder and owner Sarah Suzuki, who served in this capacity since 2017.

Nguyen first joined CCC – a Chicago-based group counseling practice dedicated to helping people break free from self-destructive behaviors – in 2018 as a therapist. At the end of 2019 he took over management of non-clinical operations and became the Director of Operations in February 2020. As Director of Operations, Nguyen expanded the organization’s commitment to anti-racist practice, including spearheading the development of inclusive benefits and equitable professional development opportunities.

Nguyen draws on a wide-range of leadership experience from his work in psychiatric and healthcare services, including developing training protocols, implementing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, and introducing quality improvement initiatives in agency and hospital settings. He brings an adept understanding of how to create a high-quality treatment team and support a collaborative team culture.

“I am excited to serve our team at CCC. Our vision and work of creating a company that serves clients, staff, and our community is inspiring and critical. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this effort,” Nguyen stated. “I feel honored that our team is willing to put their trust in me.”

As executive director, Nguyen will work closely with staff in deepening CCC’s analysis and application of systemic anti-racism initiatives. His top priority as a director is to help CCC move towards becoming a Level 5 anti-racist and multicultural instituion by continuing to foster an abundance worldview and power-sharing mentality at all levels of the organization.

“Our practice has many opportunities for actionable growth as an anti-racist institution, and we need a leader who understands our organization and our vision of inclusive practice,” stated Suzuki. “Dennis is the right person to guide our team with practical, sustainable solutions.”

Nguyen received a BS in Psychology and an MSW from Grand Valley State University. Ngyyen continues to maintain certification as a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Illinois.
